Bearing two titles—one poetic and one functional—it evokes the world of DeSoto Key, a favorite spot of my partner Alyssa and I. Functionally, the piece is built completely from pitches derived from a sequence of progressively augmenting or diminishing intervals. Alternating sections of improvisatory melodic intervals and melodies built from the same lend the piece its structure.
